WHO WE ARE
Suicide Prevention Alliance of Mesa County, (formerly Western Colorado Suicide Prevention Foundation) is a 501(c)3 organization and is the leading provider of prevention training in the Grand Valley. Suicide Prevention Alliance collaborates with mental health providers and community partners involved in suicide prevention. Core partners include St. Mary’s, Mind Springs, Colorado Mesa University, District 51, Veterans Affairs, NAMI Western Slope, and Mesa County Public Health. Additional community organizations are also critical to our Alliance and collective work.
WHAT WE DO
Provide mental health training and suicide awareness and intervention training to community members, healthcare providers, workforce members and others to increase our county's ability to prevent suicide.
Serve as a go-to resource hub through providing the community a robust website directory showcasing local, state, and national suicide prevention and mental health resources.
Support and communicate progress of the Mesa County Public Health Suicide Prevention Plan.
OUR KEY PRIORITIES
Suicide Prevention Alliance has identified key priority areas in their 2018-2020 strategic plan designed to prevent and reduce suicide in Mesa County.
COLLABORATION & PARTNERSHIPS
Build, sustain, and strengthen local collaborations to expand available services and advance suicide prevention through coordinating, promoting, and leveraging existing partner services.
TRAINING & EDUCATION
Increase the number of informed and trained members of the Mesa County community who understand the factors that protect individuals from suicidal behaviors. Equip community members to identify and respond to individuals in crisis, or displaying warning signs of suicidal thoughts and behaviors.
ADVOCACY & AWARENESS
Implement frequent and consistent research-informed advocacy, awareness, and outreach communications to prevent suicide by changing knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors in the Mesa County community.
